I haven't played the later parts after X but I still like the Final Fantasy Series.
This is nice, the shading and highlights are neat and the detail is nice. What bothers me though is that she appears more manly than womanly here and her cape doesn't looks like cloth with difference to her clothes. It's still is good though.
The dynamism in this picture really jumped out at me! It's reminiscent of artwork from video games, which is really cool. I especially like how his face matches up really well with the "story" behind his pose--you can tell he's in an action moment, this is serious.
Overall, your coloring looks pretty good! The shadows and highlights are fairly consistent overall, but there are a couple places that the blending could be a bit smoother so that the fabric, especially, looks less "hard" more like it has a softer texture and ability to move with him. I would also remove the sketchy lineart layer that's overlaying all the coloring: if it were a bit cleaner, it could stay, but for now it just lends an unfinished look to the piece. If you're having trouble defining those lines with just coloring, play around with some brush sizes, opacity, and hardness to see if you can mimic those clean lines without drawing them out.
Proportionally, the anatomy is also pretty good. I'll agree that his left thigh (when we're looking at him) and the right hand are a bit too large. His head is also a bit small, given his overall body size, and if it were a bit bigger, I think it'd pull the whole piece together nicely.
Some of your details and toning are ok but I think his left hand is really big and so is his right thigh, it looks too thick and out of proportion. I also don't think his sword and gloves don't match up with the rest of his outfit. His red cloak also doesn't seem to fit the picture, it's distracting and doesn't look 'flowing'. The white text at the bottom doesn't look good either.
Yeah, I hear you on the procrastinating part; I do too much of that myself; I would get alot more art out, too, if it wasn't so bad; but I'm getting better at it and trying to reduce the amount of time between uploads, which is getting smaller, thank fully.
If this is from a video game, I'm not familiar with the character, but I like that you spent the time to make all the little details believable and real looking. There is quite a bit of detail, and it benefits the character. The quote fits the theme well, too. Good job.
